Construction Container FAQs
What is considered construction debris?
Materials like drywall, wood, siding, concrete and roofing debris are considered C&D debris. Construction waste can include anything that wasn’t useable for the construction project. Because debris can vary from job to job, we like to learn about your business so we can provide the best waste removal service to keep you on schedule.
How big is a construction dumpster?
We provide a range of sizes so your business can have the best option for the job at hand. One of our larger dumpsters is a 40 yard roll off, whose dimensions are 22 feet x 7.5 feet x 8 feet. Our smaller options, 10 and 20 yard dumpsters, are commonly used for heavier debris.
How much does it cost to remove construction debris?
The average cost of a construction dumpster ranges from $285 - $1,068 on average. Our prices vary by size and the area of the country you’ll be using it. Since our flat rates bundle the costs of delivery, pickup, a weight limit and taxes, you know what you’re paying upfront.
What is LEED in construction?
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an environmental building standard set by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The higher the waste diversion rate for construction and demolition, the more likely the project will obtain LEED certification. Using our large network, we can help you achieve some of the highest market recovery rates for any project in the country.
Where can I dispose of building materials?
Transfer stations, construction and demolition drop-off centers and landfills take most building materials. We recommend using a roll off construction dumpster for disposing of building materials because you can choose from several sizes to fit the needs of your project and set up delivery when it's convenient for you. Depending on what debris they'll accept, you may be able to bring your C&D materials to a local recycling facility and or donate them to a local nonprofit organization.
How do I dispose of bricks?
There are a few options to dispose of bricks. You can rent a roll off dumpster, hire a junk removal service, sell the bricks to a city or state materials exchange program, or transport them to a landfill or transfer station yourself using a pickup truck.
Renting a dumpster is a good option if you have a lot of bricks and want to budget the cost of removal ahead of time. If you have a smaller number of bricks and do not want to lift the bricks yourself, you can hire a junk removal company to remove them. If you have access to a pickup truck that's big enough to transport bricks, want to save money and only have a small number of bricks, doing it yourself may be a better choice.
Selling bricks via a state or local materials exchange program will help reuse or recycle materials, but it isn't a guaranteed solution; it depends on what is available in your area and if people want them.
How do I dispose of wooden pallets?
You can break the pallets down and recycle them with other wood. Additionally, you can sell them to a reclaimed wood supplier or online via a website like Craiglist. You can also donate pallets to nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity ReStores. If the pallet came via an order you regularly make, you could send it back. Many manufacturers will credit the return of a pallet for your next order.
What are construction dumpsters called?
The dumpsters used on construction sites are also called roll off dumpsters. Construction dumpsters typically range from 10, 20, 30 and 40 yard sizes and are used for projects such as remodeling, demolitions and roof tear-offs. This type of container has wheels to help haulers place and remove the dumpster from the property, which is why roll off bins work well for contractor work.
How tall is a construction dumpster?
Construction dumpsters vary by height depending on which roll off size you rent. Typically, the smallest container is a 10 yard bin at 3.5 feet tall, while our largest 40 yard construction dumpster averages 8 feet tall. Keep in mind that while total volume for a dumpster may be the same, the exact dimensions vary by manufacturer.
